European Ph.D on Social Representations and Communication

Direct Beneficiaries

The So.Re.Com. THEmatic NETwork is oriented towards "end users" in Social Psychology and will allow simultaneous interactions between leading European academics and the worldwide research community.  This also includes experts outside academia from political institutions and foundations (like the Maison des Sciences de l’Homme, the Paris, Rome and Genazzano city governments, and CantierEuropa), EU experts and social policy makers concerned with European integration, international organisations (UNESCO:), and commercial national and multinational enterprises, such as Marratech (Sweden), EDF,  among others.

These are crucial policy makers in societal issues and technological innovation and have a major impact on research in the social sciences.   Among academics, users will be high-level University officials, university professors and researchers, Euro PhD, and master’s students.   The network will further expand the Euro PhD centre's already extensive international scope as the E-Library and e-videoconference research training infrastructure will allow dissemination of on-site training and special events via videoconferencing not only within the Euro PhD network, including Marie Curie Multi-Partner Organisation sites, but also with other similarly equipped research centres both in and outside Europe. This network will also favour special target groups who can profit from the ODL training system such as women researchers, researchers in the less-favoured regions of Europe and those who are motor-disadvantaged. Thousands of full members and hundreds of affiliate Institutions and research centres are already linked as potential candidate  of the International Association on Social Representations (AIERS) and members of the European Association of Experimental Social Psychology (EAESP). The network will  also serve the European Federation of Psychologist’s Associations (EFPA), the European Federation of Psychology Students’ Associations (EFPSA), the European Association of Doctoral Students (EURODOC), Marie Curie Fellows Association, Ordine degli Psicologi Italiani (the Italian Psychology Certification Board) as well as similar professional organisations throughout Europe. The So.Re.Com.thematic neTwork will  also assist in identifying new international partners that share an interest in research open to interaction between people actively engaged on societal issues in various organisations, public institutions and private companies.  They will contribute by providing important feedback on the applied aspects of research, and delineate a social frame of reference to give meaning to and generate synergy for collective learning.   Academic knowledge can thereby be converted into valuable expertise closely connected to its social context.
